Puppy Chow

The ultimate, nostalgic snack/dessert that everyone loves to eat no matter what time of day…Puppy Chow. This is great for parties, get togethers or just a Tuesday afternoon snack.

This yummy treat is also a great option to put in a decorative tin and gift at the holidays. Nothing better than a gift of sweetness!

Here’s the list of ingredients that you’ll need to make this scrumptious treat:

  • 6 cups rice chex 
  • 1-2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chip
  • 1 cup peanut butter

Let’s get cooking!

Start out by placing all of the chex cereal in a large bowl and set aside. 

In a microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30 second intervals, mixing in between to keep it from burning. Continue this method until the mixture is smooth. 

Pour melted mixture over the chex and mix until coated.

Next, pour the powdered sugar over everything and coat entirely (works great to shake in a closable container).

Enjoy! Careful it can be messy, store in airtight containers or a ziplock bag.

    I haven’t tried YOUR particular recipe, but I have a former boss that would make batches of puppy chow (and its cousin “chex mix”) and put it in nice containers for Christmas gifts! The ‘chow is long gone, but we still have a lovely quart size cut glass (looking) container that we store teabags in.
