Hearty Chili
What’s better on a breezy, dreary night than a big bowl of chili, snuggled up with a blanket and good book? Nothing! And this recipe is the perfect choice for your next chili night.

Here’s what you’ll need to recreate my chili recipe, a favorite in our home.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb hot breakfast sausage
- 4 oz can diced jalapeños
- 1 white onion chopped
- 4 Tbsps minced garlic
- 45 oz diced tomatoes
- 4 oz hatch green chiles
- 45 oz tomato sauce
- 3 oz chili mix seasoning
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 45 oz chili beans

Let’s get cooking!
First, in a large pot, brown ground chuck and then drain. If you’re not using lean beef, you can drain the excess grease if you should so desire.
Next, add sausage, onion, green peppers, garlic and cook until browned.

After sausage is browned, add diced tomatoes, green chiles, tomato sauce, chili mix, beans and tomato paste and diced jalapeños, stirring occasionally while simmering for at least an hour.
After about an hour, all the flavors have marinated together and you can serve!

We usually dish ours up with crackers, cheese, sour cream and a peanut butter sandwich and let people dress it how they like it, some people love it thin like a soup and others love it so thick they can eat it with a fork. Customize it to fit your taste buds. Enjoy!

I love all your recipes!
I’m not sure what possessed me to try this recipe in 90 degree weather with smoke from the wildfires in the air, but here we are!!
It was awesome!!! As “they” say… no notes!!!
